BLACK INDEPENDENCE MATTERS

We All Must Act Now
First we must heed Malcolm X and also Dr. King who both said that we must abandon the civil rights struggle and engage in a HUMAN RIGHTS revolution. Under civil rights, Trump has power. Under the human RIGHT OF SELF-DETERMINATION Black people can take that power to ourselves where we live.
The Afrodescendant Union is calling on ALL BLACK PEOPLE & ORGANIZATIONS to unite and organize under the framework of the human right of self-determination so that we can declare and become independent of the inherently racist American system.
Black Summer 2025: The Afrodescendant Union’s Manifesto for Independence and Self-Determination
Preamble
We, the Afrodescendant people of the United States, have come to the point of either resist or perish. For centuries, we have endured the weight of systemic racism, economic exploitation, mass incarceration, and state-sanctioned violence. We have fought tirelessly for justice, yet the very system that claims to uphold liberty and democracy has denied us our fundamental rights to equality, sovereignty, and self-determination. The time has come for us to assert our independence and reclaim our destiny. On July 4, 2025, we will no longer acknowledge the authority of a racist American government established upon illegal occupancy and genocide that continues to oppress and exploit us. Instead, we declare our independence and the establishment of a self-determined Afrodescendant nation within the territories where we are the majority.
The Case for Independence
The Trump Administration’s Hostility Toward Black Lives
Once again, we find ourselves under the governance of a president whose policies and rhetoric reinforce white supremacy. The Trump administration has systematically rolled back civil rights protections, emboldened racist police forces, and undermined efforts for racial justice. His presidency has only deepened the wounds of anti-Black oppression, proving that the American government is incapable of delivering true justice to Afrodescendants.A Legacy of Systemic Racism and Economic Disenfranchisement
The United States was built on the backs of enslaved Africans, yet our labor, culture, and lives continue to be devalued. The racial wealth gap remains staggering, our communities are overpoliced and abused by police, our children receive substandard education, and our people are disproportionately imprisoned. The state has perpetuated this inequality for generations, and reform has proven to be an illusion. We can no longer wait for justice from a system designed to deny it.The Right to Reparations and Restoration of Sovereignty
Reparations are not just a matter of financial compensation but the restoration of sovereignty and self-determination. We have demanded reparations for years to no avail but will now lawfully take full control over the political and economic affairs of our communities and repair ourselves. Independence is the only path to true reparative justice, as it allows us to construct an economy and governance system that prioritizes the well-being of Afrodescendant people over corporate and white supremacist interests.
The Plan for Independence
Mass Demonstrations, Referendum, and Citywide Declarations
On July 4, 2025, we call upon all Afrodescendants in every city to take to the streets in mass demonstrations, rallies, and community actions. These actions will serve as our collective demonstrative declaration of independence, a refusal to recognize the authority of a government that does not serve our interests.
Leading up to this day, we will conduct a referendum on independence, allowing Afrodescendants to vote using physical ballots and declaration-signing sheets presented by volunteers in the streets, at community centers, and in various locations.
On July 4, massive voting will take place at demonstrations and rallies, where participants will have the opportunity to sign and vote in person.
An online vote will also be available at https://afrodescendants.com to ensure accessibility for all Afrodescendants nationwide.
At the demonstrations, spokespersons and community leaders will publicly read aloud our Declaration of Independence, affirming our collective decision.
Political and Economic Control of Our Communities
In areas where Afrodescendants are the majority, we will establish independent governance structures free from interference by the United States government. These structures are being established now to be in place before independence is declared.
We will control local assets, including land, utility operations, residential, industrial and commercial properties, to finance our independent economy and fund reparations initiatives. All businesses such as food outlets will be owned by the community to distribute the wealth back to the people. Our economy will be self-sustaining.
We will create a central reparations fund to issue monetary stimulus payments to all Afrodescendants, ensuring economic stability for our people.
Housing for All Afrodescendants in Need
All empty and abandoned housing properties in majority-Black areas will be turned over to those in need, free of charge in a structured way via a housing administration department.
All housing will be declared free for Afrodescendant people, eliminating homelessness and ensuring that every member of our community has a place to call home. The human right to adequate housing will be respected.
The Liberation of Political Prisoners
We will demand and negotiate the immediate release of all political prisoners and other individuals who qualify to be under the jurisdiction of our new government.
Those who seek freedom under our independent nation will be offered sanctuary and protection under our laws.
Building an Independent Afrodescendant Nation
We will develop our own political systems based on collective governance, justice, and the principles of Pan-Africanism.
We will establish an economic infrastructure that prioritizes cooperative economics, land ownership, and wealth redistribution.
We will form alliances with other nations and movements that support our struggle for self-determination and sovereignty.
A Call to Action
The struggle for independence is not a passive one—it requires the commitment, unity, and action of every Afrodescendant. We call on activists, organizers, community leaders, and everyday people to join us in this historic movement. On July 4, 2025, we reject a nation that has rejected us. We embrace the dawn of our own self-governed future. Black Summer 2025 is not just a protest—it is the birth of a new nation. For our ancestors. For our children. For our future.

After you learn about Black Summer being the greatest action that Afrodescendants can take, please share the news with others because this is a collective action.

If you are interested in playing a key role, coordinate with the Afrodescendant Union and other organizers to set up local structures and planned actions.

Take the stand with others from your community on July 4 to assert the right of self-determination and take control of your community.
