THE RISE

Unjust domination by others continues  to exist because of the lack of unity and organization among Afrodescendants. The Afrodescendant Union plans to end the hundreds of years of illegal domination by united effective actions.

WHY WE EXIST

The Afrodescendant Union exists to promote unity, solidarity, and cooperation among Afrodescendant organizations worldwide, advocate for the rights and interests of Afrodescendants, and work towards the socioeconomic empowerment and cultural preservation of Afrodescendant communities via the right of self-determination and the political status that effects.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership in the ADU is open to Afrodescendant organizations from all regions of the world. - Membership criteria includes a commitment to the goals and principles of the ADU, commitment to asserting the right of self-determination, representation of Afrodescendant communities, and adherence to democratic and inclusive governance practices.

STRUCTURE

- General Assembly: Comprising representatives from member organizations, the General Assembly serves as the highest decision-making body of the ADU. It convenes periodically to discuss and decide on major policies, initiatives, and strategies. - Executive Council: The Executive Council, consisting of elected representatives from member organizations, oversees the day-to-day operations of the ADU and implements decisions made by the General Assembly. - Secretariat: The Secretariat, headed by a Secretary-General appointed by the Executive Council, serves as the administrative arm of the ADU. It facilitates communication, coordination, and information exchange among member organizations and manages the organization's resources and activities.;

Functions and Activities

- Advocacy and Lobbying: The ADU advocates for the rights and interests of Afrodescendants at national, regional, and international levels, lobbying governments, intergovernmental organizations, and other stakeholders to address issues such as discrimination, inequality, and marginalization. - Capacity Building and Empowerment: The ADU provides capacity-building support and resources to member organizations, helping them strengthen their organizational capacities, leadership skills, and advocacy efforts. - Networking and Collaboration: The ADU facilitates networking and collaboration among member organizations, fostering partnerships and alliances to leverage collective strengths and resources for greater impact. - Research and Documentation: The ADU conducts research and documentation on issues affecting Afrodescendant communities, generating knowledge and evidence to inform advocacy, policymaking, and programmatic interventions.

Regional and Thematic Committees

- The ADU may establish regional committees to address specific challenges and opportunities facing Afrodescendant communities in different regions. - Thematic committees may also be formed to focus on particular areas of concern, such as education, health, economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and human rights.

Funding and Resource Mobilization

- The ADU relies on funding from member contributions, grants, donations, and other sources to support its activities and initiatives. - Resource mobilization efforts may include fundraising campaigns, partnerships with donor agencies and philanthropic organizations, and income-generating activities.

Communication and Outreach

- The ADU maintains communication channels, including a website, newsletter, social media platforms, and mailing lists, to disseminate information, share resources, and engage with stakeholders. - Outreach efforts aim to raise awareness about the ADU's mission and activities, mobilize support from Afrodescendant communities and allies, and build solidarity across borders.
